(All chicks are straight-run ONLY)
Our Black Copper Marans have been bred to be large birds. They are a great dual purpose breed that are fantastic foragers and relativity fast growers (slaughter ready at 20 weeks - possibly earlier). As the breeder we bought them from focused on large size and not egg color, their eggs are not as dark as other Black Copper Marans I've seen. If you are looking for a great hearty all around farm yard bird these are for you. These are not show quality. Chicks: $3.50/each Hatching Eggs: $20/dozen.
We also have Golden Cuckoo Marans Chicks: $4/each Hatching Eggs: $25/dozen - These are beautiful birds, they are not as big as the BCM, but they make up for it with their beautiful plumage. These marans also have the feathered legs. Taking orders now for this spring. Can have chicks as early as late March if you email us your order now. I have one Blue/Golden Cuckoo Maran hen in with my breeders so blues are possible, but I cannot make a guarantee.
Also laying right now is a small assortment of Bantam Cochins. The rooster is a calico color and we have two black frizzle hens, one splash, and one black, so it will be a bit of a surprise what color chick you will get. Not show quality (mostly, our splash hen has the right conformation), but make very good pets. Ours lay relativity well and we get a few small eggs from each a week - which is quite good for a bantam cochin. They do have a tendency to go broody though, so we may or may not be able to provide chicks or hatching eggs at any one given time. Taking order for the spring. We can have chicks and eggs available this March is you contact us now. Chicks: $3/each Hatching Eggs: $15/dozen
I have a few breeds that are not yet laying, but should be soon. Chicks and hatching eggs from the following breeds will be available during the summer and fall months with prices TBD.
- Black Langshans
- Black Jersey Giants
- Partridge Rocks
Pork & Pigs!
Piglets will be available mid February. Heritage breed mixes. Their sire is from Sugar Mountain Farm bloodlines. These pigs are meant to be on pasture and will do best if given room to roam! Males are uncut. $75 a piglet. We only have 14 piglets so please contact us if you are interested as some are being kept to raise for meat.
Speaking of meat. We will also be taking non-refundable deposits for whole and half pigs to be butchered in Late June - Early July time frame. Whole pig/$200 and Half Pig/$100 deposits. This deposit will go towards the final cost of the pig, which is $2.50/lbs hanging weight plus butcher cost. Contact us prior to February 20th if you want pasture raised pork! Any pigs that don't have a deposit on them will be sold as piglets. We don't want to raise a pig if we don't already have a buyer lined up.
